Locations: Geodude is commonly found in the Rock Tunnel and Mt. You just need to know which types to stay away from and you'll be fine. While Geodude doesn't learn Rock Slide on its own you can and should use TM 48 to teach it this powerful technique.
On the other hand, moves like Earthquake and Dig are super-effective against Fire, Electric, Poison and even fellow Rock types. But Geodude's meanest and certainly most effective technique is Self Destruct which you should later replace with Explosion. Use Explosion when your Geodude is low on HP or when you're battling a friend who relies heavily on Mewtwo or similar super-stars.
Fire Blast can come in very handy when facing Grass types. Origin: " Geo " is Greek for Earth -- and " dude " means HP : Attack : Defense : Atk : Def : Speed : Minimum stats are calculated with 0 EVs , IVs of 0, and a hindering nature , if applicable.
Geodude is available in the following areas: Routes 45, 46, Mt. In Crystal, it is also available on Route Mortar, and Silver Cave. It is available in two different places at the very start of the game -- both Route 46 and Dark Cave -- and instantly provides you with an amazing physical wall which can single-handedly destroy the first four gyms with its dual STAB options. Not only that, but its awesome typing, while giving it double weaknesses to Water and Grass, enables it to pair up very well with any of the three starters.
Although it is not quite as physically bulky as its cousin Onix, Geodude has substantially better attacking power and movepool, which makes it the superior option. As you progress in the game, Geodude does tend to become a liability against very powerful opponents such as Chuck's Poliwrath or Clair's Kingdra, but its amazing early-game typing more than makes up for it. I never saw the use in a pokemon with two very common 4x weaknesses to counterbalance a high defence stat.
If you have to use either, pick Steelix. Way better typing. Golem is dead the second a water or grass type comes into play. Dude get an Onix and evolve it into a Steelix. Rock pokemon have to many goddamn weaknesses to be useful!
